Where:  Rollins College, Winter Park Library, Gallery at Avalon Island and Plaza Theater (downtown Orlando)

When:  September 18-23, 2012

Why:  To use film as a catalyst to make positive change in communities

Since 2003 the Global Peace Film Festival (GPFF) has connected tens of thousands of filmgoers and filmmakers in conversations as they share their desire for the peace on the planet. With films and filmmakers from around the globe, the festival spotlights lots of issues affecting the quality and peacefulness of our life on the planet. Topics screened include the environment, arts and education as well as films on war and peace.

Orlando Sentinel Film Critic, Roger Moore called GPFF “One of the best film festivals in this part of the country.” “… one of the state’s most prestigious film festivals.”

Lindy T Shepherd wrote in the Orlando Weekly: “One by one, reporters came back with comments like, “I never knew about this, but it really got to me.”  A bunch of liberal softies?  Nah, just humans feeling connected to other humans in distress.”

It is truly amazing that GPFF is hitting the 10 year mark. This is a testimony to the inspiration it elicits from filmgoers who support the festival year after year. The festival is a labor of love for Executive Director Nina Streich and a handful of volunteers who have brought messages of peace, sustainability, and community to filmgoers in Central Florida.

Nina Streich said,”I think those who attend the festival are so inspired by it because the films they see tell the stories of individuals and communities the world over.”

The questions posed get people thinking about solutions and how they can make a difference. People leave the films better informed, with deeper perspective of their own lives, and become inspired to make a difference in their own communities and the world.
