Special Guest to be Announced
Thurs, Jan 26th,  6:30PM
Admission:  $15

Don’t miss a special SUNDANCE USA screening of ARBITRAGE starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth, and Brit Marling.  A special guest to be announced will be at Enzian to participate in a live Q&A.

Director and screenwriter Nicholas Jarecki makes an auspicious feature debut with this taut and alluring suspense thriller about love, loyalty, and high finance.  Arbitrage – buying low and selling high – depends on a person’s ability to determine the true value of any given market.  It’s a talent that has made billionaire hedge fund magnate Robert Miller the very portrait of success in American business. But on the eve of his sixtieth birthday, Miller finds himself desperately trying to sell his trading empire to a major bank before the extent of his fraud is discovered.  When an unexpected bloody error challenges his perception of what things are worth, Miller finds that his business is not the only thing hanging in the balance.  Building on the chemistry and charisma of an outstanding cast, Jarecki leads us through the slick and duplicitous limits of impunity and composes an anatomy of the way asset bubbles can burst.

Enzian is thrilled to be one of nine movie theaters nationwide selected to be part of Sundance Film Festival USA 2012, a program designed to bring the Festival experience to film-loving audiences nationwide.

“Bringing new voices in independent cinema to communities across the country at the same time they’re breaking for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival is an exciting proposition for artists, audiences, and for us,” said Robert Redford, Founder and President of Sundance Institute. “Even with the accessibility of films everywhere, there is still something incomparable about discovering, with others, a new world in a great story onscreen.”

Top 10: United States of Film Production … Florida is #3!

Category : Latest News

Every year P3 Update puts together a list of the top 10 states in the nation that offer the most attractive combination of tax incentives, crew base, talent pool, infrastructure, accessibility, significant production revenue and overall popularity among filmmakers.  We are thrilled to see Florida at #3!

Here’s what they had to say about Florida film production:

For a long time, Florida boasted having one of the largest production-crew bases in the country, but, according to Communications Coordinator Colleen McClure of the Florida Governor’s Office of Film and Entertainment, the state has fallen in rank in recent years. This was partly due to a growing number of competitive domestic incentive packages and crewmembers moving to Louisiana when its production increased.

But the Sunshine State is fighting fire with fire to become an incredibly strong contender. With the recent passage of its Film & Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program — which offers $242 million in transferable tax credits over five years — Florida is seeing its crew base restored  as production grows. This is bolstered by a robust incentive package that includes a 20-percent base transferable-tax credit for total expenditures associated with Florida businesses and resident wages. Combining additional bonus opportunities, including “Family-Friendly” and “Off-Season” perks, can increase the credits up to 30 percent of the total Florida spend. The savings continue for qualified productions that receive sales-and-use tax exemptions on the purchase or lease of certain items used in filming.

Recent Florida productions include Transformers: Dark of the Moon, A&E’s “The Glades” and season four of USA Network’s “Burn Notice.” McClure reports that production revenue for fiscal year 2010 sat at $760,722, 482, and, as of May 2011, the amount was $981,059,895 for fiscal year 2011. These numbers don’t lie: The heat is definitely on in Florida.

Here’s a list of the Top 10 states:

7.    NEW YORK

8.    UTAH
