This event used to be called Flower Power, but will now be called the Garden Rocks Concert Series … I am assuming since their line-up is not all bands from the 60’s anymore.

Melanie Lentz-Janney Appointed New President of WIFT-FL

Category : Latest News

WIFT logoIt’s with great enthusiasm and honor that we announce that Doverwood Communications’ Melanie Lentz-Janney has been appointed the new President of Women in Film & Television – Florida. Her new role begins on January 1, 2015 and concludes on December 31, 2015.

Women in Film & Television – Florida (WIFT-FL) is a state-wide 501c3 volunteer organization run by an active Board of Directors, elected by the membership. The women and men who serve on the board come from all disciplines within the film and television industry.

WIFT-FL is charged with building positive images of media-makers (both women and men), empowering them to achieve their highest professional/creative potential, and helping create more job opportunities throughout the State of Florida. There are over 40 chapters of Women in Film around the world with over 10,000 members.

MLJ-photoMelanie has been a part of WIFT-FL for fifteen years. She was hired as the organization’s first Executive Director in 2001 and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2004. She has handled a variety of roles including Marketing/Communications Chairperson and Vice President. She decided before she moved on to explore other volunteer efforts that also spoke to her heart, she would step in as President in 2015 to help with the new expansion of WIFT-FL in four regions throughout the state: Miami, Tampa Bay, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. She considers 2015 one of the most relevant times to become a part of this group. The need to hire and pay equal wages to women in the entertainment industry is hitting a tipping point as more and more women are stepping up and speaking out on this issue.
